Before a resume is reviewed. Before an interview is scheduled. Something more fundamental is already shaping a person's professional trajectory: whether they've experienced respect.

Most people file respect under manners. We don't. In our work with emerging talent, respect functions as a developmental force- it determines confidence, willingness to ask questions, and the courage to contribute an idea that might be wrong.

Technology is moving faster than most workplaces can absorb it. AI is reshaping the conversation around skills, value, and relevance- and almost no one has settled on what that means yet. What hasn't changed is more basic: people need to know their contribution registers.

Emerging talent thrives in environments where respect, curiosity, and collaboration are encouraged.

At Respect Me Project, respect starts inward and moves out. It shows up in how someone talks to themselves after a mistake. How they engage a teammate who thinks differently than they do. Whether an organization lets emerging talent learn without flinching every time they're wrong.

Across years of conversations with students, interns, and early-career professionals, one pattern holds: people don't just perform better when respected, they become willing to keep showing up as themselves while they're still figuring it out.

Respect isn't a result of professional success. It's one of the conditions that makes success sustainable.

That belief drives our mentorship, our research, and every resource we build.

This Field Note stays here as an early reflection, the first version of an idea that's still sharpening:

Respect is not a soft skill. It is infrastructure for growth.
